   Weather Information
Due to its location, this Region has a continuously changing weather. This is caused by the geography, the sea and the winds. Therefore, three climate zones can be found: Inner Channels Zone, Pre-Andes Zone and Pampa or Steppe Zone.

Puerto Natales is in between coastal border and the Pampa. In Summer time, the minimum average temperature is 5ºC while the maximum average reaches 17ºC (still, temperatures over 20ºC have been registered). On the other hand, the minimum average temperature is -3ºC in Winter (down to -12ºC) while the maximum is only 6ºC.

Wind is characteristic of Spring and Summer, the average speed is 35 Km/hr. but it can reach 100 km/hr. Nevertheless, the wind decreases during Winter.

Precipitations also vary depending on the zone. While 3,000 ml/y fall in the Inner Channels, only 300 ml/y fall in the Steppe Zone. However, an average of 900 ml/y fall in the Pre-Andes Zone and the Coastal Boarder.

Against all beliefs, Winter in the Southern Region is not as severe as many people think. It doesn’t snow or rain much, so all tourist activities can be carried on without trouble.
